Top Speaker, a lot of technical discussion and a lot of FUN - this is the right mixture for a Visual Studio Launch Party. So, watch out to register on our registration site that will be online soon - or just send me an email with your contact data and I will add you to the participants list automatically. Act now - only 60 persons can register for this great event.

On this day, community at Niederrhein will make some changes - but I can't tell you more about this at this moment.

SPAM and its value

9/25/2005 11:10:53 AM (W. Europe Standard Time, UTC+01:00)

Bug in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005

9/22/2005 10:15:06 AM (W. Europe Standard Time, UTC+01:00)

Hi you guys out there developing applications for Compact Framework with VS2005 BETA 2!

A colleague found a bug in Visual Studio 2005: If you create a new project for Pocket PC 2003 for the .NET Compact Framework 1.0 and you change the default namespace, Visual Studio itself adds a "Resources.resx" to your project's "Properties" folder. The underlying source code file "Resources.Designer.cs" can't be compiled by the CSC for .NETCF1.0 because it contains .NETCF2 contents.

Workaround: just throw the "Resources.resx" out of your project and you're done ;-)

Now I'm smart :D

9/22/2005 8:12:56 AM (W. Europe Standard Time, UTC+01:00)

Since yesterday I can say: I'm smart... :) My MPX 200 received. I will use it for my private telephony. Why did I buy such an old Smartphone? Well I got my MDA II that is quite good for organizing, etc., but I had no experience yet with the smaller smartphones. The MPX 200 has a nice design - that was the most counting point.

Meeting in Mainz

9/20/2005 7:26:38 AM (W. Europe Standard Time, UTC+01:00)

Yesterday afternoon, Dirk, Peter, Simon and I met in Mainz @ Rheingoldhalle, where BASTA is going on. For some reasons, Peter and Simon wanted to eat something, so wen went to downtown Mainz and nearby the "Mainzer Dom" we found the "Mainzer Kebap Haus". Eating his Kebap, Simon had an affair with a wasp that liked to eat some of his Kebap. Also changing to another table wasn't helpful. The waitress in the "Mainzer Kebap Haus" was very stoned - to act like her, you need to smoke a lot of wheet.

Well, today we're meeting again @ BASTA...

MobileVision - Day 2

9/10/2005 10:39:22 AM (W. Europe Standard Time, UTC+01:00)

Starting yesterday morning with a little headache, we went from our hotel to the fair centre. Doing our business was much more easy than on thursday, because there were more visitors and some very interesting talks about technical and business content. A very good lunch gave back some power. Our Development Manager, Mr. Heinrich, and his brother-in-law, Mr. Belgardt came to us, a little later, also our new apprentice Mr. Dogan came to us to meet Mr. Winkler and smell fair spirit ;-).

But the awesome event on this day was the "Viking Party". The preparations during the day made some good impressions about what's going to start tonight. A "Viking bar" where you got some cocktails (Caipirinha, Caipirinha Strawberry, Caipirinha Mango, Pina Colada, Planter's Punch, Bloody Beer, Met and some alcohol-free drinks). The waitresses worn some viking style fashion - fancy ;-). One of those waitresses was very cute - everytime I had an empty glass of beer, she stood next to me and gave me a new one - very gentle girl. But just a quarter past twelve she went away - and I stood there without having her number :(

A very cool band made music on the party: Torfrock - they made the title song for the first "Werner"-movie : "Beinhart". They rocked the party tent.

At 1 am we took the bus back to our hotel - we didn't knew the driver made a sightseeing tour all across Osnabrück - well after almost 40 minutes we reached the hotel. The hotel bar had closed, so we went to the reception and got some more beers and after round about an hour we went to bad.

One of the twenty beers seems to have been bad :( - my headace is very strong. Well - I hope I will survive the last hours of MobileVision 2005.

MobileVision - Day 1

9/9/2005 10:56:38 AM (W. Europe Standard Time, UTC+01:00)

Just yesterday started the MobileVision presented by Intertrade AG in Wallenhorst near Osnabrück.

So my Chef and I started at half past nine and reached Wallenhorst at 10 am. We filled our standing with life and cleaned up a bit. The MobileVision is a fair on an acre nearby Wallenhorst. Three big tents are building the fair area. Maybe you can imagine, how warm it was in those tents, when the sun shines all day long and the temperatures reach 30°C in the shadow - it was not nice - but after the organizers lifted the side parts of the tents, air circulation brought some fresh air into the tents.

Before the fair started at 1 pm, we went to our hotel. Now I know, why this guy drove into the river a few years ago: you can't trust navigation systems :-) We drove through Osnabrück and stopped at the end of the street, where a fence made it impossible to drive by. Well, to shorten it up, after another 30 minutes we found our hotel. Because Osnabrück has four UK force barracks all across the city, we also had a meeting with a tank - it was very strange to see a tank driving over "normal" streets.

After changing clothes we went back to the fair area and got some tasty food - the catering company does its job very well :-). Well, I used the afternoon to develop some lines of code for an internal project - you see, there weren't so much users as we expected. At 6 pm the fair has closed and some of the exhibitiants organized a little evening program.

At 8 pm we all met at "Grüner Jäger" in Osnabrück. The cab drive to the meeting point was some kind of strange and so we first needed some alcohol to calm down. The worst thing about Osnabrück: They don't have the right beer here - no Alt :-( So I was forced to drink "Osnabrücker Pils" - well, I can't recommend it. At 12 pm we went back to hotel. My boss, our company's management consultant and me went to the hotel bar just to drink a glas of water - well it ended with some more beers and "HKT" - "herzhafter Kräuter-Tropfen" (some kind of shot).

Well, this was the first day of MobileVision... more to come soon. (Tonight, "Torfrock" will give a concert on fair centre at the Wiking party. (You know Torfrock, if you know the "Werner" movies)
